ABOUT THE PROJECT

Our project is entitled Ministry of European Union Affairs Erasmus+ KA202 Strategic Partnership for Vocational Training and Education Project sponsored by the European Commission under an Erasmus+ Program.

• The European Union's grant program in the fields of education, youth, and sports, ERASMUS+, is being implemented in the period from 2014 to 2020.

• Erasmus+ programs are carried out by the Central Department for European Union Education and Youth Programs (Turkey National Agency) under the Ministry of European Union Affairs.

• The National Agency has basically assumed the responsibility for advertising the European Union's training and youth programs within the country; coordinating, executing, and monitoring participation in such programs; to submit reports to the European Commission; to conduct necessary negotiations with the European Commission regarding program implementation; and signing implementation agreements.

• The project submitted by the University of Amasya was one of the 26 projects accepted among 206 projects proposed in 2017.

• Project duration is 24 months.

Objective of Our Project:

• To create awareness on the utilization of alternative airway methods in Turkey and to extend the use of such methods as a result of works that we will carry out with our partners at home and abroad.

• To deliver air to a patient who cannot perform respiratory function because of obstruction of airway or respiratory failure by means of equipment planted in respiratory passages such as mouth and trachea in order to ensure oxygenation.

• Ensuring that the airway remains open and maintaining it is the most urgent issue in providing care for a patient.

• While a wide range of equipment is used for airway management, Endotracheal Tube (ETT) is mostly used in Turkey. Our project aims at providing support for ensuring that students who are attending a first and emergency aid program are informed about different and innovative methods and develop their skills.

As Part of the Project;

- An education module and curriculum will be developed as a result of works that we are going to undertake with regard to the discovery of most current, innovative, and convenient for alternative methods in collaboration with our partners at home and abroad;

- A booklet entitled "Utilization of Alternative and New Methods Used for Airway Management" as a result of a final project deliverable;

- Our paramedic students will join internship programs in partner countries;

- They will be able to observe the utilization of alternative airway equipment in institutions providing emergency medical services in Europe and improve their skills and qualifications by taking part in hands-on training as part of those activities;

- Transnational visits will also be a cultural activity for our students;

- Training courses will be organized for healthcare workers offering emergency medical services based on data resulting from the project;

- Those who will receive this training will provide services by employing more efficient, innovative, and appropriate methods based on knowledge and skills acquired after the training;

- Damage and death resulting from insufficient knowledge or equipment or failure to use an appropriate method will be prevented and healthcare services of higher quality will be offered to the public in a more informed fashion.
